Anti-Aging Studies on Resveratrol

Trans Resveratrol is a naturally occurring antioxidant found in peanuts and grapes . It is present in in the roots, seeds and vines of grapes , but mostly occurs in grape skins. The presence of resveratrol is much higher in red wine than white wine due to the varieties of grape they’re made from and the ways they are made . An article published in a 2006 issue of Nature looked at the effectiveness of resveratrol for stretching the life-span and reversing the problems caused by obesity. Laboratory mice were divided into 3 cluster . The first group was given a high-calorie diet in which 60% of the calories were from fat . In addition , the mice were given trans resveratrol. The second cluster received the same high fat diet, but received no resveratrol. The third group received a basic , calorie-reduced diet. In a paper released in a 2006 issue of Current Biology, scientists measured the impact effect resveratrol could exert on stretching the lifespan of short-lived fish. The remaining groups of fish were fed food that included a resveratrol supplement in three different concentrations ranging from twenty four – six hundred micrograms/gram .

Fish in the control group and the lowest resveratrol cluster enjoyed a survival rate that matched the expected lifespan of the species . Fish receiving the next higher amount of trans resveratrol had a median life expectancy that was 30 percent longer than normal . Fish in the third resveratrol cluster (600 micrograms/gram of food) survived 59% longer. Scientists observed that the subject fish in the high dose cluster were breeding at age twelve weeks while all the fish in the control group were already dead . In addition , researchers tested all fish during the study and discovered that the subjects receiving the resveratrol demonstrated good retention of learning skills and a decease in age-related brain deterioration. They concluded that resveratrol significantly extended the life of these short -lived fish and delayed the start of age-related memory difficulties .

But suffice to say that our body, in the process of creating energy uses oxygen as fuel and converts it to water, but in the process the oxygen molecule is not completely and cleanly utilized. There are by products- our own version of nuclear waste- So that’s one – huge source of free radicals.

Our own white blood cells use oxidants to combat viruses and parasites and bacteria and chronic infections will expose our tissues to free radicals.

Up until recently I didn’t know that such a theory existed but now, not only do I know that it exists, I also understand that it seems to be a leading contender to explain the aging process.
The Free Radical Theory of Aging was first proposed by Dr. Denham Harman and I’ve paraphrased what he is proposingas follows:
Free radicals can be produced within the body as part of the normal metabolic process and outside of the body from toxic sources like cigarette smoking. The changes that these free radicals induce in our bodies are a main cause of aging, disease development and inevitably -death. When the bodies defense mechanism against free radicals – namely antioxidants – are no longer produced or available in sufficient numbers to combat the free radicals, the changes that they create in the cells accumulate, creating mutations in the sequence of genetic material. As these mutations accumulate the systems of the body deteriorate leading to the development of aging and degenerative diseases.
In short – when we are missing out on the antiaging benefits of enough antioxidants in our systems, the free radicals are left to damage cell structure, cluttering up our system with damaged cells, toxins and making it more difficult for our bodies to adapt to environmental stresses.
Now, we’re all going to age, but clearly if I’m going to live to be 105 then I would like to spend as many of those years in the best shape I can be in and to do that, I will need to keep my body well supplied with the best antioxidants.

Looking for a good supplement

It’s possible to spend a fortune on supplements and since I don’t have a forture I’d like to be sure I’m getting my money’s worth, which is why I’ve often made the mistake of expecting to actually feel something different. Really, you’re not supposed to expect to feel anything from most of the natural supplements.

I had heard good things about many, and I had heard bad things about many. Finally, after doing some of my own research, I decided to give MAXGXL a try. I was interested to see if the product would really give me the type of energy boost that others said it did. As someone who is maybe slightly on the shady side of my prime, I have started to feel my body slowing down, and sometimes it’s just not as easy to get up and get going as it used to be. ‘ve worked out most of my life but lately not been feeling energetic enough to get myself out the door and to the gym.
