Glutathione

Glutathione is a naturally occurring substance that acts as an immune system booster, an antioxidant and it can help your body detox.? It can assist with anything from helping your body repair damage caused by burns, poor diet, ageing, trauma, stress, pollution, radiation, injury, infection and drugs. Some researchers believe that glutathione can do all this – possibly more.

“Glutathione is a molecule your body produces and is found in every cell. Because it actually resides within each cell it is probably the body’s most important anti oxidant.

Antioxidants — You will have heard of vitamins C and E – neutralize free radicals, to help prevent a build up and the damage they cause. Glutathione has gives the impression of offering widespread health benefits because it’s in all types of cells, including the immune system, whose job is to fight disease. Glutathione can also help the liver remove chemicals that don’t belong in the body, like drugs and pollutants.

Glutathione occurs naturally in many foods, people with diets high in fresh fruits and vegetables and freshly prepared meats are most likely just fine. On the other hand, those with poor diets may get too little.

How Should Glutathione Be Taken?

Glutathione is probably not well absorbed into the body when taken by mouth. And so rather that directly supplementing with Glutathione we can take the precursors — that is, the molecules the body needs to make glutathione — rather than glutathione itself.

Laboratory and animal studies have demonstrated that since many of the diseases that are associdated with old age come about becuase of free radical damage glutathione has the potential to fight almost any disease, particularly those associated with aging.

People have tried glutathione to treat many conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, cataracts, cancer, male infertility, high blood pressure and Parkinson’s disease.

Experts disagree on who should take glutathione or its precursors but they do agree that people suffering from with severe diseases that are connected with low glutathione levels, like AIDS, may well benefit from the supplement, although there is no proof to this effect.
